Job Description

Our client, a dedicated and innovative provincial development agency in Nova Scotia, is seeking an experienced designated Accountant to support their finance team on a contract term. This is a remote position with occasional on-site visits, therefore candidates are required to presently live within Nova Scotia. 

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

  • Full-cycle accounting
  • Preparation and maintenance of detailed working papers 
  • Preparation of month-end financial statements
  • Management and reconciliation of deferred revenue
  • Support year-end audit processes and liaise with auditors
  • Ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting

Experience & Attributes for Success:

  • CPA designation in good standing is required
  • Proven experience managing full-cycle accounting, with a track record of quickly integrating into existing teams and processes
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel is required and hands-on experience with Sage 50 and Quantum Project Management software is a definite asset
  • Experience in government-funded or not-for-profit environments is a strong asset
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight timelines
  • Adaptable and flexible work ethic with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong communication skills
