About Ecora
Ecora Consultants Ltd. is one of Canada’s fastest-growing full-service consulting firms, driven by our commitment to excellence, innovation, and community. With a multidisciplinary team and offices across British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario, we deliver integrated solutions in engineering, environmental sciences, planning, and natural resource management.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Business Development Lead to drive growth for our Geospatial & Resource Analytics group. This team is the "data engine" of Ecora. Historically focused on the Forestry sector—where we manage Ecosystem Mapping, Vegetation Resources Inventories (VRI) and Timber Supply Analysis — we are now pivoting to apply this same expertise to Mining, Infrastructure, and Clean Energy.
Your role will be to work with the current team, track and develop opportunities for the team in multiple sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Anchor the Core (Forestry):
- Steward relationships with our long-standing forestry clients, First Nations partners, and government agencies.
- Secure contracts for statutory requirements, e.g. Timber Supply Reviews and VRI
- Drive the Expansion (Mining & Infrastructure):
- Identify opportunities where our forestry data tools (LiDAR, photogrammetry, GIS) solve problems in other sectors.
- Example: Selling "terrain stability mapping" to a mining client, or "corridor vegetation analysis" to a utility company.
- Support for Analysts:
- Provide support to our forest analysts/data scientists in providing client requirements.
- Strategic Bidding:
- Lead proposal development for complex, multi-disciplinary projects within North America.
- Work with all our divisions to bundle Geospatial services into larger infrastructure and construction bids.
Qualifications
- Education: Degree or diploma in Forestry, Geomatics, Geography, Business, or related field.
- Experience: 5–8 years in business development or consulting leadership.
- Sector Versatility: Deep knowledge of the Forestry sector is strongly preferred, but you must possess the curiosity and business acumen to operate in Mining and Energy environments.
- Tech-Savvy: You do not need to be a GIS technician, but you must understand the commercial application of Spatial Data. You know the difference between raw data and actionable intelligence.
- Relationship Builder: Proven track record of turning cold calls into long-term partnerships.
- Driver: Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
Why Join Ecora?
- Ownership: Be part of a fast-growing, employee-owned firm.
- Innovation: Help re-define how traditional industry sectors use data to make land-use decisions.
- Compensation: Competitive salary + Performance Bonus, Comprehensive health/dental/vision benefits, RRSP Matching Professional Development support
