Overview:

This role requires a highly motivated Business Development Manager to drive business development and sales growth for our wire and cable solutions across Western Canada. This role focuses on building relationships with EPCs, contractors, and end users in key industrial sectors such as oil & gas, mining, utilities, and infrastructure. The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with consultative selling skills to deliver value-added solutions and an established network of industry contacts.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Identify and pursue new opportunities with EPCs, OEMs, and end users in Western Canada.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans to grow market share.

Technical Expertise

  • Provide technical support and product recommendations for wire and cable applications.
  • Conduct product presentations, training sessions, and lunch-and-learns for engineering teams.

Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with decision-makers at EPCs and end-user customers.
  • Collaborate with distributors to maximize coverage and sales.

Project Engagement

  • Identify future major projects and track them from design through execution, ensuring specification and approval of products.
  • Support bid processes and provide accurate technical and commercial proposals.

Market Intelligence

  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and project developments.
  • Provide feedback to marketing and product teams for continuous improvement.

Outcomes / Accountability

  • Success rate (% of projects won)
  • Revenue and CM from targeted projects
  • Quality and precision of market intelligence / early project awareness

Qualifications

Education

  • Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.

Experience

  • 15+ years in technical sales within wire & cable, electrical products, or industrial solutions.
  • Proven track record of selling to and through EPCs and large industrial accounts.
  • Established network of industry contacts

Skills:

  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to interpret specifications.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Self-starter with ability to manage territory independently.

Other

  • Willingness to travel extensively within Western Canada.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools and project tracking systems.

Other Requirements:

  • Strong organizational skills to manage pipeline, projects, and reporting independently.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines and KPIs.
  • Proficiency with virtual collaboration tools (Teams, etc.).
  • Ability to manage CRM systems, prepare reports, and communicate effectively via digital platforms.
  • Willingness to travel within Western Canada for client visits, site meetings, and industry events (approx. 30–50% travel).
