The Construction Officer will provide on-site oversight and coordination for complex construction activities within remote environments.

Accountabilities:
The Construction Officer - Substations will oversee construction activities and support successful project execution by coordinating field operations, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining strong communication between all stakeholders. Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing construction activities throughout project phases, including civil works, equipment installation, testing, and commissioning at remote power facilities.
- Coordinating contractors on-site and ensuring compliance with safety procedures, project requirements, and approved construction standards.
- Reviewing, implementing, and updating safety plans, risk assessments, and work procedures in collaboration with contractors.
- Managing testing and commissioning activities while supporting quality assurance and project completion.
- Verifying that construction materials, equipment, and installations meet approved designs, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Tracking project progress, supporting change management processes, and coordinating the resolution of deficiencies.
- Preparing daily site reports, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring timely incident reporting and follow-up.
- Participating in safety meetings, coordinating with plant operations, and maintaining communication with project managers and stakeholders.
- Liaising with engineers, technical professionals, and contractors to identify and resolve construction issues.
- Providing technical input, responding to site-related inquiries, and supporting logistics coordination, including travel and remote site operations.
- Assisting with minor site or camp maintenance activities as required and adapting to changing project needs.
- Working extended schedules when required, including up to 12 hours per day, 7 days per week based on project demands.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate is an experienced construction professional with strong site coordination capabilities and a commitment to safety, quality, and collaboration. Required qualifications and skills include:
- Diploma in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Technology, relevant trade certification, apprenticeship training, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of construction, site monitoring, or field supervision experience, preferably within remote, industrial, or infrastructure environments.
- Proven experience managing contractors and overseeing construction activities.
- Strong understanding of occupational health and safety requirements, including the ability to implement safety plans and risk assessments.
- Valid First Aid certification and willingness to complete additional safety and work protection training.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and construction documentation.
- Strong organizational skills with experience preparing reports and maintaining project records.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders.
- Ability and willingness to work in remote locations, including camp-based and rotational environments.
- Comfort working in challenging conditions, including adverse weather, heights, underground environments, and extended work schedules.
- Advanced English communication skills, both written and spoken.
