The Role
Accountants are boring. Accounts are humourless. Accountants are mechanical bean counters, incapable of creative thought. These are all stereotypes that we seek to disprove. How do we do it? Easy: we hire someone who checks none of those boxes. After all, it's a well-known fact that money rules the world. As a company with our eyes set on world domination, we need a Finance team that handles money better than anyone else on the planet. dbrand's Corporate Accountant plays an integral role in ensuring that we'll one day have enough money to buy the Moon... but it's even more important that they aren't boring, humourless, or incapable of creative thought. Think you've got what it takes? Keep reading.
Our coffers are significantly more full than they were yesterday. Why? Because we just launched a new, limited edition product line – one that our adoring, cult-like fanbase has quite predictably bought into. Tempting as it may be to spend the day rolling around in a swimming pool filled with cash, we first must pay the bills. That's where you come in. Your immaculate organizational skills guarantee that no purchase flies under the radar, no invoice goes unpaid, and no statement goes unreconciled. A portion of our sizable windfall goes towards the obvious: employee payroll, shipping payables, tax remittances. Some of the money goes towards the less obvious: cutting royalty checks for some of the biggest names in the tech industry, or paying down a credit card that was used to buy a hundred smartphones for a giveaway. Does the rest of it go towards our "buy the Moon" fund? In this fictional, alternate universe in which you already work for us, you know the answer to that question. In reality, we will neither confirm nor deny until you've signed an NDA.
Needless to say, you won't be receiving any NDAs until you've proven yourself. If the above paragraph didn't describe you to a tee, you should save us all some time and close the tab. We'll wait.
Still here? Good, you might have a shot. Depending on how things go, you might learn the truth about our not-so-secret Moon fund.
The Environment
dbrand thrives where other eCommerce companies have failed because our customers enjoy a revolutionary degree of commitment, engagement, and accessibility from us. It's a relationship best summarized by our brand promise: "It's not a product. It's a culture.™" Maintaining an internal culture of excellence, the likes of which our highly-engaged audience demands and deserves, is critical to dbrand's current and future success.
Our customers deserve no less than the absolute best, and we hold every member of the team to that exacting standard. Surrounded by a diverse team that values input and insight from every corner of our organization, the Corporate Accountant is tasked with processing our transactions, reconciling our financial statements, and making sure all of the bills get paid.
So, what's in it for you? Well, unlike most companies, we actually care about the work we're doing. Penny-pinching isn't in our DNA, and we're well aware that you need to spend money to make money. Managing our accounts is a one-of-a-kind challenge where the solution is its own reward. If you're someone who's growth-minded, organized, committed, and excited about our mission, to say you'd thrive here would be an understatement. Speaking of a growth mindset, we're here to support your CPA track by providing relevant work experience and a CPA fee budget to help you earn your designation.
Before you can get the opportunity to join our passionate, dynamic team and help us buy the Moon, you'll need to prove yourself. Let’s see if you’ve got what it takes…
