About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join our team as Director, National Food Operations. In this role, you will advance our mission of a Canada where no one goes hungry by leading national food procurement, logistics, and operational partnerships. You will oversee a high-performing team, building sustainable supply chain solutions that increase the availability of consistent and nutritious food for food banks across the country. This position provides the opportunity to develop and implement innovative strategies, manage key operational programs, and cultivate strong relationships with industry partners, donors, and the broader food bank network. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in food procurement and supply chain management, exceptional leadership and analytical skills, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving that drives meaningful impact.
What You Will Be Doing
Develop and implement annual plans for logistics, procurement, and operational partnerships aligned with organizational objectives and in support of FBC’s strategic plan
Lead, mentor and support a high-performing cross-functional team, fostering a positive culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
Oversee operational verticals including: logistics, procurement, and operational partnerships
Develop and maintain positive relationships with food industry donors, logistics companies and other suppliers, along with network leaders active in food acquisition and distribution
Work collaboratively with internal teams on donor prospecting and solicitation to help secure and leverage strong partnerships that expand food acquisition and services needed to improve operations and reduce costs for both FBC and the network.
What You Will Need
Completion of an undergraduate degree or equivalent in a related field
Minimum 6 years’ experience in food procurement and supply chain management, preferably with a retailer or manufacturer
Demonstrated strategic and analytical thinking skills
Experience in undertaking and implementing systems change and business operations
Highly organized with the ability to successfully multi-task and meet deadlines
Proven track record of successfully working in a highly collaborative and complex organizational environment
Extensive experience in handling budgets, food procurement and logistics
Demonstrated leadership and management skills including team building, collaboration, and conflict management
Exceptional oral and written communication skills with a strong customer service orientation and comfort presenting to varied audiences
Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
Working Conditions
Full-time, Monday-Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work
The position is home-based and can be located anywhere in Canada
Occasional travel within Canada may be required
