This role offers the opportunity to lead a high-impact engineering team focused on delivering personalized discovery experiences beyond traditional digital storefronts. You will oversee the development of scalable, real-time systems that power multi-channel engagement across email, notifications, and advertising platforms. Accountabilities:
- Lead and scale a team of engineers responsible for building high-performance, real-time discovery systems across multiple channels
- Define and execute the engineering strategy in alignment with product goals and measurable business impact
- Partner with product and cross-functional stakeholders to set priorities, define roadmaps, and deliver impactful features
- Mentor and develop engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and technical excellence
- Drive hiring efforts, including recruiting, onboarding, and building a strong, cohesive team
- Establish and monitor system performance metrics, ensuring reliability, scalability, and operational transparency
- Continuously improve infrastructure, processes, and tooling to enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and delivery speed
- Collaborate with other teams to define clear system boundaries and ensure seamless integrations
Requirements:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or management role
- Proven experience designing and operating high-load, real-time systems in production environments
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, system architecture, and API design principles
- Demonstrated ability to hire, mentor, and grow engineering teams in fast-paced environments
- Experience translating product requirements into technical strategies and execution plans
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
- Familiarity with JavaScript and modern web technologies is a plus
- Ability to work effectively in a distributed team with overlapping hours in UTC time zones
