THE OPPORTUNITY
Ambipar. is currently seeking a GIS Technician/Drafter based out of Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta. This position can be offered remote/’work from home’.
RESPONSIBILITIES AT HAND / WHAT YOUR DAYS WILL CONSIST OF
· Utilizing AutoCAD, ArcGIS and QGIS to develop professional site plans, figures and cross sectional diagrams for spill response, environmental assessment/remediation/reclamation and emergency preparedness planning projects.
· Working amongst a team of professionals on project tasks related to GIS, GPS and spatial data interpretation, and topographic, geographic and hydrogeological mapping for client deliverables.
· Provide guidance with calculation of key site metrics such as distances to environmental receptors, site dimensions, surficial areas and excavation volumes.
· Assist in developing process and optimizing current computer/software programs from data acquisition to data presentation and project tracking.
· Follow the requirements of the quality program, including potential reporting peer review and operations audits.
· Complete SOPs, build figure templates, conduct training and adapt to additional responsibilities as required by the Ambipar Operations and Technical Teams.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, or related discipline.
· Proficiency and experience using AutoCAD, ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS and other GIS software.
