Working in partnership with utilities, governments, Indigenous Nations, and other industry partners we reduce energy poverty, accelerate decarbonization, and improve housing in traditionally underserved communities across Canada and the United States. Kambo delivers three in-house programs: Empower Me, Community Power, and the Home Upgrades Program.
Empower Me delivers multilingual education, support, and coaching services to ensure underrepresented communities have access to energy, climate, and home retrofit programs.
Community Power supports Indigenous Nations to build, renovate, and improve community housing.
Home Upgrades Program provides fully subsidized energy retrofits to improve affordability for households living in energy poverty.
About the Opportunity
This is a fixed-term, project-based opportunity with field work required throughout various locations in Alberta. Reporting to the respective project’s lead, the Home Assessor will perform comprehensive condition assessments on mixed types of residential properties for the purpose of identifying and reporting on deficiencies and opportunities for energy savings. This role will work alongside a second assessor on-site, and remotely with a larger office-based team.
Using a customized data collection tool, you will perform home assessments according to Community Power’s standards and work with a team to generate detailed findings reports. Results of these reports will be used by the customer to address urgent housing issues, develop capital plans, schedule renovations, and inform long term maintenance strategies.
The successful applicant for this role will be comfortable dealing with regularly changing schedules and field conditions. You work effectively in small, collaborative teams and can drive work forward autonomously when needed. You enjoy sharing knowledge about your expertise and are approachable, friendly, and able to communicate to home occupants without judgement. Cultural sensitivity and respect when working in Indigenous communities is essential to success in this role.
This is a fully remote position that requires regular travel to urban, rural, and remote areas of Alberta as well as home-based office work. The successful applicant must have a flexible schedule which allows them to be away from home for 5-10 days at a time.
