In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring our employment practices adhere to all federal, state, and local laws within the Californian operations. Your contributions will be critical in fostering a culture of integrity and transparency as you coordinate compliance initiatives, conduct audits, and support policy development. This position not only influences the experience of teammates but also enhances operational excellence, allowing you to integrate compliance frameworks into everyday practices while working remotely.

Accountabilities

    • Monitor compliance with employment laws and regulations across California.
    • Conduct audits of HR files and onboarding documentation to ensure compliance.
    • Support the development and implementation of HR policies and compliance programs.
    • Maintain necessary employee records and reports per jurisdictional requirements.
    • Collaborate with HR and Legal teams on compliance inquiries and investigations.
    • Coordinate compliance training sessions for employees and managers.
    • Track legislative updates and communicate their impacts to leadership.
    • Assist in preparing government filings and reports as required.

Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
    • 3-5 years of experience in California HR with a focus on compliance and auditing.
    • In-depth knowledge of California state and federal employment laws.
    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Required regional travel up to 50% for store visits and meetings.
    • Experience in union environments preferred.
    • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
