We are always on the lookout for talented individuals to join our team.   The Opportunity: Postmedia’s Legal Department is looking for a skilled corporate / commercial lawyer based in the Greater Toronto area to join its team. The Legal Department is a collaborative and high-performing team that partners closely with the business units in a fast‑paced environment where curiosity, adaptability and strong communication skills are essential. In this role, you will provide legal advice across all areas of the business, including commercial contracting, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, related litigation and legal risk management. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, and management to provide practical, business-focused advice to service a dynamic and innovative business. As with all positions in the Legal Department, the position acts as an ambassador for the department throughout the organization.   What You Will Do: Act as a partner to the business, enabling strategic initiatives and direction with thoughtful, timely guidance and advice on managing/negotiating legal and governance issues; Draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including commercial leases, vendor and services agreements, intellectual property, contractor agreements, etc. Oversee and manage operational litigation matters (working with outside counsel as appropriate). Draft and negotiate digital media and information technology agreements (including SaaS and software license agreements) digital product agreements (including mobile and software development agreements), and other commercial agreements.  Collaborate with Human Resources and Finance to ensure compliance and good governance of equity-based compensation arrangements. Participate in the evaluation of  innovative projects and commercial operations. Provide support to the business and the legal team in respect of M&A related activities   Who you are: 3 to 5 years’ experience since your Call to the Ontario Bar within a major law firm or in-house department. Good standing as a member of the Law Society of Ontario. Strong experience in corporate, securities, transactions and/or commercial law and a demonstrated capacity to collaborate and provide value added advice to the business. Positive, high degree of integrity, curious and inquisitive, you are open to diving deep into new topics while capable of working independently and/or as part of a team. Critical thinker, highly analytical with strong written and verbal communication skills. You excel at partnering with the business to find interesting solutions to their legal, compliance or governance dilemmas. Highly detailed, you pride yourself on delivering pragmatic, risk-based, legal advice with precision. Your excellent organizational skills and strong work ethic allow you to juggle competing demands in an extremely fast-paced and changing work environment.   Compensation:  Employment offers presented to the selected candidate are based on a combination of qualifications, experience, responsibilities of the role and the candidate's location.  Base Salary: $135K - $155K
