WORK WITH US

Service-Meets-Retail,

Experiential Skincare Company

Company description

Founded in 2019, Formula Fig is an innovative digital-first experiential skincare company operating 8+ Fig Bar locations across Canada (Vancouver, Toronto) and the US (Los Angeles). We've built a flywheel model connecting formulafig.com with our physical Fig Bars, offering high-tech treatments integrated with carefully curated third-party retail products. Our treatments seamlessly incorporate both partner products and our proprietary skincare line, FFFormulations, which launches next year—marking our evolution into a fully integrated treatment and product brand.

Role overview:

Formula Fig is seeking an Operational Finance Analyst to sit at the intersection of accounting, operations, and decision-making. This role is designed to bridge the gap between traditional accounting functions and the real-time financial insights required by our Operations, Product, Merchandising, and Marketing teams.

Unlike a transactional accounting role, the Operational Finance Analyst focuses on how financial data flows through our systems, how it is categorized, and how it is used to support informed business decisions. This role plays a critical part in strengthening financial discipline, improving data integrity, and enabling scalable growth as the business prepares for FY26 and beyond.

You’ll work cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Marketing, Retail and ecommerce.

Role responsibilities:

Operational Financial Ownership

  • Own day-to-day financial accuracy for operational activity across treatments, retail products, memberships, promotions, and discounts
  • Ensure revenue, discounts, COGS, and variable costs are properly categorized and mapped within the general ledger
  • Actively monitor how data flows from upstream systems (e.g., POS, e-commerce, inventory) into accounting and reporting tools
  • Identify, flag, and resolve coding or structural issues before month-end close

Cross-Functional Financial Support

  • Serve as the primary Finance partner to Operations, Product, Merchandising, and Marketing teams
  • Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights to support decisions such as:
    • Pricing and discounting strategy
    • Product and treatment profitability
    • Promotional economics
    • Store or region-level performance
  • Answer “what does this mean financially?” questions in real time, not retroactively

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare recurring operational reporting, including but not limited to:
    • Gross vs. net sales analysis
    • Discount and promotion tracking
    • Margin by product, treatment, and channel
    • Store and regional performance snapshots
  • Support monthly variance analysis by providing operational context and drivers behind results
  • Assist with the development of dashboards and standardized reporting to improve visibility and consistency across teams

Month-End & Close Support

  • Partner closely with Controller and Accounting team (Imperium) to support a timely and clean month-end close
  • Ensure operational realities are accurately reflected in financial results
  • Reduce reliance on manual adjustments and post-close corrections through proactive issue identification

Systems, Process & Project Work

  • Support system configuration, financial mappings, and data structure improvements across:
    • POS and e-commerce platforms
    • Inventory and COGS tracking
    • Discount and promotion logic
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects including:
    • Pricing and discounting framework redesign
    • Net revenue and margin analysis initiatives
    • New product launches and retail readiness
      Data and reporting infrastructure projects

What Success Looks Like

  • Finance data is trusted by Operations and leadership as accurate, timely, and decision-ready
  • Fewer surprises during month-end and quarter-end close
  • Improved consistency between operational activity and financial reporting
  • Increased financial discipline around discounting, pricing, and margin management
  • Finance operates as a proactive business partner, not a reactive reporting function

Role qualifications:

  • 3–6+ years of experience in accounting, operational finance, or a related role
  • Strong understanding of general ledger structure, revenue recognition, and cost flows
  • Experience working with POS, e-commerce, or operational systems (e.g., retail, services, or hospitality environments)
  • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills; comfort working with large data sets
  • CPA or accounting designation (or progress toward one) is an asset but not required
  • Experience supporting cross-functional stakeholders and translating financial data into business insights

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and fast-moving environments
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and systems-minded
  • Clear communicator able to explain financial concepts to non-finance partners
  • Proactive, curious, and improvement-oriented

What we offer:

  • Salary range: $85,000–$105,000 CAD
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • The opportunity to shape the future of a rapidly growing skincare brand
  • A dynamic and collaborative work environment
  • Continuous professional development and growth opportunities
  • Benefits package (vision, dental, health)
  • Formula Fig perks, treatment benefits, and product discounts
