About the role


Service New Brunswick is seeking a Product Owner to drive excellence across our Salesforce platform development lifecycle. You will translate strategic intent into operational execution, ensuring that delivery is consistent, timely, and meets the highest quality standards. As the champion of delivery outcomes, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to remove blockers, align priorities, and deliver high-impact citizen-facing services. You will guide product strategy, technical execution, prioritization, and team leadership across multiple Agile/DevOps teams. 

 

 

What will you be doing? 

 

Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Lead Agile Delivery: Drive iteration and program increment planning, maintain and prioritize the product backlog, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality, tested solutions. 

  • Define and Communicate Product Vision: Translate business capabilities into actionable features aligned with strategic goals and communicate the roadmap to stakeholders. 

  • Backlog Management: Create and maintain the team backlog, ensuring items are well-formed and prioritized based on user value, risk, and dependencies. 

  • User Story Creation: Define user stories with clear acceptance criteria.  Serve as point of contact for clarification on requirements to the development team.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for clients and development team; foster strong relationships to understand needs and manage expectations. 

  • Resource & Financial Management: Oversee budgets, contracts, and resource planning to ensure efficient and cost-effective service delivery. 

  • Risk & Portfolio Management: Monitor product performance, manage risks using the ROAM approach, and ensure lifecycle sustainability. 

  • Incident Response & Continuity: Provide leadership during critical incidents, coordinate resolution teams, and ensure continuity of services for public-facing platforms. 

  • Quality Assurance: Validate that user stories meet acceptance criteria and ensure technical stability and compliance with standards. 

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Scrum Masters, Platform Strategists, and integration teams to align development objectives with business goals. 

  • Continuous Improvement: Promote adoption of enterprise-standard tools and practices, and lead efforts to improve processes and delivery efficiency. 

  • Strategic Leadership: Contribute to branch-level planning, performance monitoring, and emergency response coordination as part of the senior management team.

What do you need to be successful?

 

Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline and 5 years of related experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst in Agile delivery and stakeholder engagement.

 

OR a two (2) year College Diploma in a related discipline with a minimum of 8 years related experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst in Agile delivery and stakeholder engagement. Subject to the response to this competition, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

What qualifications can set you apart from other candidates?

 

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate they have training or experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Experience with cloud-based platforms and enterprise-scale solutions, such as Salesforce.

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and continuous delivery. 

  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar

  • Strong understanding of risk management and compliance in a government or large organizational context.

  • Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).

  • Knowledge of public sector processes and service delivery models.

  • User and License Management:  new user setup/deactivation, roles, profiles, permissions, public groups

  • Salesforce Custom Configuration:  fields, record types, custom settings, dashboards and reports

  • Data management and security management: ensuring data quality by monitoring and cleaning data, ensure security of data through configuration of security settings, managing user roles and profiles

  • System Maintenance: monitoring system performance and applying Salesforce release updates

 

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

  • Agile & SAFe expertise (including backlog management and PI planning) 

  • Proficiency with enterprise platforms (Salesforce) 

  • Cloud-based solution management 

  • Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance standards

  •  Some weekday evening and weekend work hours may be required on occasion and candidates must possess a valid driver’s license.
