A Senior Business Analyst (Sr BA) has experience and education to bridge business needs and technological solutions. The SR BA contributes to complex aspects of projects through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, documentation, and validating business requirements.

The Sr BA assists in clarifying the organizational purpose through planning, participating in projects, analysis, testing, and project leadership among the BAs.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Business Analyst Leadership

  • The Sr BA will provide leadership within the Business Analysts by reinforcing employee empowerment, encouragement of team members, and assisting with clarity in project expectations. 

  • Responsible for coordinating the training of new BAs and assisting with training new Quality Assurance Specialist(s) as needed.

  • Provide leadership to BAs to ensure clarity in roles and functions, manage scope within projects and ensure timely delivery.

Requirements Gathering, Analysis, and Improvement

  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, documents, and validates business requirements.

  • Reviews, analyzes and evaluates user needs to assist in platform and system solutions that support overall business strategies. 

  • Translates business needs into functional solutions.

  • Documents system requirements, creating playbooks for repeatable processes.

Project Involvement

  • Functions as a liaison between Platform Managers and organizational stakeholders as necessary 

  • Works with the organizational stakeholders, clarifying their needs and expectations

  • Communicates effectively with all relevant stakeholders of changes, ensuring clarity in timelines, training, and expectation

  • Supports the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) alongside the Quality Assurance Specialists, ensuring solutions are meeting business and project objectives.

  • Maintains familiarity with the digital/ and banking system and current/future payment options.

Essential Qualifications

  • Have completed a BA degree or certification

  • Have 8 - 10 years’ experience in business analysis, preferably in the financial services industry.

  • Experience as lead BA on large organizational projects

  • Effective ‘silent’ leader and leader by title skillset

  • Organize meetings and coordinate project events (with stakeholders as relevant)

  • Experience with data analysis and evaluation

  • Able to recommend and justify solutions     

  • Meet all the progress report requirements

  • Strong knowledge of project methodologies (structured approaches and frameworks used to analyze business needs, define requirements, and deliver solutions).

  • Expertise in data analysis, process mapping and documentation.

  • Strong communication and engagement skills.

  • Be able to work independently, solve problems and make decisions within the scope of the role.

  • Be able to independently train new team members to department standards

  • Be competent to support and cover for senior department employees.

  • Advanced computer skills
