About You

We are seeking a highly analytical and hands-on Senior FinOps Engineer to lead and mature our cloud and infrastructure financial management capabilities across GCP, AWS, and on-prem environments. As part of our talented infrastructure team, you will drive cost transparency, optimize cloud spend at scale, and partner with engineering, product, and finance teams to ensure that Xsolla’s global infrastructure is efficient, predictable, and aligned with business priorities.

The ideal candidate brings a deep technical understanding of modern cloud platforms (GCP / AWS)—and experience working in Kubernetes-centric environments. You excel at turning complex usage patterns into actionable insights, influencing technical teams, and establishing a culture of cost accountability and data-driven decision-making. You balance tactical optimizations with long-term architectural improvements and know how to navigate both engineering conversations and executive discussions.

If you’re passionate about building scalable FinOps practices in a fast-growing, product-led company—and want to directly impact how we run and scale our global platform—we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

    • Lead the cloud cost optimization strategy across GCP, AWS, and on-prem infrastructure, ensuring efficiency, transparency, and financial predictability
    • Analyze compute, storage, networking, and Kubernetes resource usage to identify actionable cost-saving opportunities without compromising performance or reliability
    • Build and maintain forecasting models, dashboards, and automated reporting that provide real-time visibility into cost drivers and trends across teams and services
    • Develop and implement tagging/labeling standards, budgeting processes, and governance policies to enable cross-organizational accountability
    • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Finance, and Product to guide workload placement, architecture decisions, and scaling strategies
    • Drive adoption of FinOps best practices including rightsizing, reservation planning, autoscaling optimizations, multi-cloud efficiency, and cost-effective storage strategies
    • Create and refine internal tooling, automation, and pipelines for cost monitoring, anomaly detection, and usage attribution across Kubernetes clusters, virtual machines and physical servers, located both in datacenters and cloud providers
    • Advocate for a cost-aware culture by training engineering teams, running FinOps reviews, and communicating insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
    • Stay up to date with the latest cloud pricing models, vendor offerings, and industry trends to continuously evolve Xsolla’s FinOps maturity

Qualifications

    • 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps roles with a strong focus on cost optimization
    • Hands-on experience with GCP (priority) and AWS; strong understanding of cloud pricing models, resource types, and cost management tooling
    • Deep knowledge of Kubernetes resource allocation, autoscaling, workload placement, and cost attribution in distributed environments
    • Proficiency with cloud cost tools (GCP Billing exports, BigQuery, AWS CUR, 3rd party cost monitoring tools (Kubecost, CloudHealth), cost monitoring features in observability tools, custom dashboards, etc.)
    • Strong analytical and data-engineering skills, able to build dashboards, SQL-based pipelines, and forecasting models
    • Experience driving cross-functional initiatives and influencing engineering, product, and finance stakeholders
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business-focused recommendations
    • Fluent in English (written and verbal)

Nice To Have

    • GCP and/or AWS cloud certifications (on Professional level, preferable)
    • Understanding of FinOps Framework practices or FinOps Certified Practitioner certification
    • Prior experience in gaming, high-growth tech, SaaS, or multi-cloud platform environments
    • Familiarity with chargeback/showback models, internal cost allocation systems, or multi-tenant architectureExperience with Terraform, Helm, or GitOps workflows in cost-related automation
