Distribution Sales Manager
Hypertherm is searching for a Distribution Sales Manager (DSM) to join our team.
As a DSM, you will drive growth by selling, promoting, and supporting Hypertherm plasma systems, consumables, and parts. You’ll build, develop, and lead a strong network of independent and national distributors to maximize market coverage and increase market share within the Quebec territory.
The territory for this position is Quebec, Canada
As a DSM at Hypertherm, you will prioritize and execute objectives that strengthen channel performance, expand market penetration, and enhance distribution capabilities. Key responsibilities include:
Distribution & Channel Development
Recruit, onboard, and develop new partners while strengthening relationships with existing ones to maximize territory coverage.
Create annual business and operating plans with partners, including sales goals and strategic initiatives.
Conduct quarterly performance reviews with management to evaluate progress and adjust plans as needed.
Identify training needs and execute training programs to ensure strong product knowledge and sales capability.
Collaborate with distributors on promotional programs, joint activities, trade shows, open houses, demos, and customer visits.
Sales Execution & Market Growth
Set annual and quarterly territory sales targets and manage performance to achieve growth objectives.
Lead new product launches in the territory, track performance, and adjust actions to meet targets.
Promote and support the full product portfolio using available sales tools, demos, and technical expertise.
Conduct field research to understand end-user needs, applications, pain points, and buying behaviors.
Market & Competitive Insights
Monitor industry trends, competitive positioning, and emerging customer expectations.
Identify high-value customer segments and prioritize opportunities based on strategic fit and revenue potential.
Who you are and what you bring to the position:
Bachelor’s degree and/or 3–5 years of experience in welding/cutting or industrial distribution management.
3–5 years of industrial B2B sales experience with the ability to identify opportunities, demonstrate technical products, and train distribution sales teams.
Skilled in solution selling and recommending integrated product suites based on application needs.
Experience in market research, customer insights, or product marketing is an asset.
Strong understanding of operations, channel dynamics, and regional market conditions.
Proven ability to create and execute business plans that deliver measurable results.
Current driver’s license
Physical Demands and Travel:
Travel: 50% or more per year (primarily driving)
Location: Home Based Montreal or Quebec City, Canada
Ability to work from a home office.
Located within 2 hours of a major airport
Ability to demonstrate systems (manage the movement of ~100 pounds)
Operate plasma equipment within safety guidelines
