About the role
Abby is entering physical retail and we're launching our first clinic location — a health activation space in a shopping centre — with plans to expand to additional locations across Australia in the year ahead.
This is the person who makes that happen.
The Head of Retail Expansion owns the physical operation from the ground up: finding and securing sites, managing kiosk fit-outs, hiring and training staff, and ensuring every new location opens on time and runs smoothly from day one. After the pilot, they take the playbook they’ve built and replicate it nationally while managing the ongoing operations of the existing sites.
This is a hands-on role. The right person has opened stores before — they know what it takes to get from lease execution to opening day, they've managed shopfitters and centre operators, and they've handled the operational detail that makes physical retail actually work. Healthcare experience is not required or expected.
Key responsibilities
Pilot launch
- Lead the pilot kiosk project from site confirmation to opening day.
- Own all retail operations: council compliance, supplier setup, daily operations manual, staff induction, uniforms, equipment, and opening stock.
- Work closely with internal teams on fit-out and staffing to ensure the first Abby Clinic location is operationally ready for launch.
Playbook development
- As the pilot runs, document everything — what works, what doesn't, what each location needs to open successfully. This playbook becomes the foundation for the national rollout and establishes a clear, repeatable opening model.
National rollout
- Lead site selection, lease negotiation, fit-out project management, local staff hiring, and operational setup for additional Abby Clinic locations across Australia.
- Manage multiple sites opening simultaneously or in rapid succession.
- Build a small operations team — local ops managers and clinic coordinators — as the network grows.
Ongoing operations
- Own Abby Clinic P&L reporting and daily performance metrics.
- Manage ongoing relationships with shopping centre operators.
- Ensure compliance with retail, insurance, and health and safety requirements at each location.

Identify underperforming sites and escalate to leadership.
What we're looking for
- Proven experience in retail operations or multi-site expansion, with experience opening multiple locations — ideally in a high-growth, fast-rollout environment.
- Background in quick service restaurants, specialty retail, wellness or beauty brands, telco or banking kiosks, pharmacy expansion, or franchise development.
- You've worked with shopping centre operators and know how Westfield and Vicinity operate.
- You've managed shopfitters and kiosk fit-outs.
- You understand retail compliance and operations, or you get across new requirements quickly.
- You're organised, direct, and comfortable holding several things in your head at once.
- You can move fast without cutting corners on the details that matter.
- You're energised by building something from scratch.
