PLATO has offices on or near Indigenous communities across Canada, in Fredericton, Miramichi, Sault Ste Marie, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, and Victoria.
We are currently looking for an experienced Researcher for a contract opportunity from June to Dec of 2026, with the possibility of renewal.

This position can be done fully remotely from Canada.
We are seeking a Generative Researcher to lead exploratory research initiatives that uncover user needs, behaviors, motivations, and pain points. In this role, you will play a critical part in shaping service design, transformation strategies, and program planning by translating research insights into meaningful, actionable outcomes.
You thrive in ambiguity, are comfortable conducting research in diverse environments, and are passionate about turning human insights into impactful solutions.
What you'll do
Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct exploratory, generative research to identify user needs, motivations, behaviors, and opportunities
- Design and execute qualitative research studies, both remotely and in-field
- Synthesize complex research findings into clear, compelling insights
- Translate insights into actionable recommendations that inform service design and strategic initiatives
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including designers, strategists, and program leaders
- Contribute to transformation strategy and program planning through evidence-based insights
- Communicate research findings through engaging storytelling and presentations
What you'll need
Qualifications
- Proven experience in research planning and execution
- Deep knowledge of qualitative research methods
- Strong synthesis skills with the ability to derive meaningful insights from complex data
- Excellent storytelling and communication skills
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement abilities
- Effective time management and ability to manage multiple research activities
- Field readiness, including conducting research in diverse and dynamic environments
- Experience with research and collaboration tools such as: Azure DevOps (ADO), Dovetail, Miro, and/or PowerPoint
