Primary Focus
We are hiring a Technical Advisor for WoodWorks Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for advancing and expanding the demand for wood products, engineered and value added wood components, and wood systems in multi family residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings in Ontario. They will provide knowledge and technical information, assisting the design community including architects and engineers, builders, and regulators with a comprehensive understanding of wood structural systems and materials, and how they can be used in Ontario’s construction projects. Preferred location: Northern Ontario.
Specific Accountabilities
- Implementation of the Woodworks operational plan, concentrating on delivery of core deliverables and KPI’s.
- Connecting with key industry stakeholders, maintaining and expanding existing relationships & network.
- Building and managing project pipelines, supporting and growing the sector.
- Gathering market intelligence that will directly influence market access for wood construction in Ontario through the creation of resources and advancement of regulations by working with the Canadian Wood Council (CWC) Codes & Engineering team.
- Updating and maintaining project advancement & stakeholder engagement through CRM, KPI’s and activity reporting.
- Regularly communicating with program partners to understand industry needs & demonstrate program value.
Qualifications
- University degree or College diploma in Architecture, Construction or Civil Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 years of construction sales, design, or project management experience (experience on wood projects an asset).
- Strong knowledge of construction and the wood products industry in Canada.
- Understanding and familiarity with brand building and brand management.
- Ability to work within a strong and collaborative team environment, supporting program goals and targets.
- Ability to manage and co-ordinate work requirements while meeting deadlines and budget requirements.
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills of Microsoft Office 365 programs.
- Service-focused and committed to driving value for our members and partners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, including public speaking.
- Project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability essential.
- G license required.
