WORK WITH US

Service-Meets-Retail,

Experiential Skincare Company

Company description

Founded in 2019, Formula Fig is an innovative digital-first experiential skincare company operating 8+ Fig Bar locations across Canada (Vancouver, Toronto) and the US (Los Angeles). We've built a flywheel model connecting formulafig.com with our physical Fig Bars, offering high-tech treatments integrated with carefully curated third-party retail products. Our treatments seamlessly incorporate both partner products and our proprietary skincare line, FFFormulations, which launches next year—marking our evolution into a fully integrated treatment and product brand.

Role overview

We're seeking a full-time Technical Systems Manager to own all technical infrastructure (not just e-commerce), someone who can bridge the gap between the business needs and technical partners/developers. Own the infrastructure layer of our digital ecosystem. This is a hands-on, senior individual contributor role — no direct reports, but you'll work closely with every team across the business: sales, operations, finance, marketing, guest experience, and our external development partners.

Right now, our systems aren't talking to each other the way they should. We need someone who can connect the dots between our platforms, troubleshoot issues without guesswork, and help us build toward a more unified data architecture.

This role can be remote and based in Los Angeles or Canada.

Role responsibilities

System Management & Integration

  • Manage and optimize integrations across Shopify, MindBody Online, Gorgias, Klaviyo, and other platforms
  • Own system configurations and ensure data flows correctly between platforms
  • Support the transition toward Shopify as our central source of truth for bookings and checkout
  • Maintain API connections and troubleshoot integration issues

Technical Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot technical issues by reading logs, identifying root causes, and implementing fixes (not just workarounds)
  • Debug issues independently and resolve them with proper documentation
  • Establish logging and tracking systems to prevent continuous firefighting

Partner & Vendor Collaboration

  • Collaborate with external partners (developers, agencies) — bringing context, documentation, and accountability to those relationships
  • Work with partners like Apient to ensure issues are solved with proper context and tracking
  • Participate in design conversations with development partners to ensure alignment on product data structure

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Bridge backend operations with frontend experience, connecting the dots between departments
  • Support Finance with data infrastructure needs for accurate and timely reporting
  • Enable the data and dashboard projects by ensuring clean, reliable data extraction

Role qualifications

Must-Have Skills:

  • Strong Shopify Plus expertise, including Shopify Markets (US/Canada experience required)
  • Technical fluency with APIs and integrations — able to read documentation, debug errors, run UAT, and collaborate directly with developers
  • Hands-on experience with CX, marketing, and booking platforms (e.g., Gorgias, Klaviyo, MindBody, or similar)
  • Experience operating in multi-location retail, hospitality, or beauty/wellness environments
  • Highly organized and adaptable — strong documentation habits and comfort balancing quick fixes with scalable, long-term solutions in a fast-paced environment

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with membership/subscription models and deferred revenue concepts
  • Background in luxury or experiential brands
  • Experience with data analytics and insights (implementation and interpretation)
  • Exposure to UX design principles

What Success Looks Like

  • Systems are integrated, and data flows accurately between platforms without manual intervention
  • Technical issues are resolved at the root cause with proper documentation, reducing repeat firefighting
  • Shopify is successfully established as the source of truth for bookings and checkout
  • External partner relationships are productive with clear accountability and tracking
  • Backend and frontend operations are connected, eliminating the 'two separate companies' dynamic
  • Finance and Operations have access to timely, accurate data for decision-making

What we offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits package (vision, dental, health)
  • The opportunity to shape the future of a rapidly growing skincare brand
  • A dynamic and collaborative work environment
  • Continuous professional development and growth opportunities
  • Formula Fig perks, treatment benefits, and product discounts

Total rewards

  • United States: $125,000 – $190,000 USD
  • Canada: $90,000 – $140,000 CAD

Total reward decisions are performance-based and reviewed throughout the calendar year.
